What’s Happening in Hutchinson- October 2020

2021 Hutchinson Chamber Annual Banquet–

The Hutchinson Chamber and its Board are actively working to fine tune the details of the 2021 Annual Event. Stay tuned for more details.

Business Connection –

October business connection has been canceled. The past two months we have been able to facilitate this networking event in Library Square with great outcomes. As we all know, October mornings can be quite chilly causing some guests to be uncomfortable, lowering our registrations and attendance. The Chamber is actively working to find an alternate route of how we can continue with Business Connection while abiding the event guidelines. Contact Cegi at [email protected] if interested in hosting.

Business After Hours is a great way to learn about businesses in Hutchinson and network with fellow Chamber members. This is a way to get behind the scenes at our local businesses… to see what they make, do or provide. This monthly event is by Chamber invitation only and is open to all Chamber member business employees. Businesses interested in hosting a Business After Hours event or would like more information should email the Ambassadors.

If you are the only primary representative with your business receiving emails from the Chamber, please invite all your employees to join us! Preregistration is strongly encouraged, so our business hosts may plan accordingly.

Maximize Your Membership!

Here at the Chamber we use Email marketing efforts to reach our membership. As a Chamber member, you, too, can make the most of your membership through Email Blasts!

There are two types of Email Blasts that can benefit your business by marketing, promoting events or deals and networking!

A Spotlight Message is a 1-point option that would include a message in one of our monthly Chamber emails, such as the digital newsletter email or one of our other mid-month email updates. Your business name would be in the email’s subject line and your company’s message is a main bullet point in the email.

A Custom Email is a 2-point option that features an email we send to all of the Chamber members whenever you choose. This email contains your message highlighting whatever you wish to share with Chamber members and includes an image or video link we can include in the email.

Email Blasts are a great way to help get your message out to other Chamber members and connect you to other businesses. Are you ready to raise your community profile and maximize your membership!? Contact Cegi by phone (320-234-0786)or email ([email protected])with questions.

Something from Mary!

It’s October. Wait, what?  My body is physically in October, but my brain thinks it should be in May… Read Mary’s Blog to continue reading what you too may be feeling!

Something from Mary!!

How’d that happen?

It’s October.

Wait, what?

My body is physically in October, but my brain thinks it should be May. Do you feel misplaced too?

Recently at a conference, Jennifer Hellman of Goff Public noted some changes in most of us humans due to Covid.

  • We are all socially awkward now. I laughed. How could that be true? I love people! Oh wait… do you hug, do you not hug? Someone comes in for a handshake, and should I take my hand sanitizer out now, or later? Yep, I’m socially awkward now also.
  • Isolation has made us hyper sensitive and over vigilant. The sounds I am making right now sound like I am walking on hot coals… oo, ah, who, wow…. Yep… I can see where she is coming from.
  • We, in general, are indecisive, because we may be waiting for a grant that may or may not come, the election may change things, this “thing” could go away, or any myriad of things- see over-vigilant above.

In a time where we have so many unknowns, let’s focus on what we know to be true and real.

Focus Items to consider for the immediate future to help you during this time:

  • Post or do something to drive people into your business in the next five days.
  • Create a takeaway for every sale you have in person. A simple note thanking them for shopping locally, or specifically at your business.
  • Send a thank you note to a vendor for their extra effort in helping you and your business.
  • Send a postcard mailing with a special offer coming up, or remind them of Small Business Saturday, November 28. Oh, and by the way, every day is Small Business Day.
  • Remember your livelihood is essential. You matter. I believe in you!
  • Invite a friend, mentor, or family member for coffee. Just chat and fill your bucket.
  • Send a note to another business person and let them know you appreciate them.
  • Go for a walk, even if it is around the block.
  • Everyday, write three things you are grateful for.

You probably can think of other things to bring a little more intentionality to your immediate future.

So yes, the leaves are changing, the air is crisper and there is pumpkin spice macaroni and cheese. But also, we can think about taking care of ourselves, flipping the calendar to a new month, AND, intentionally taking small steps toward focusing on what is factual and real for each of us.

Thank you for all YOU do in our community to support others. We see what you are doing. YOU make it #MuchInHutch!

October 2020- Business of the Month

1470 South Grade Road     Hutchinson, MN

L & P Supply has been a family owned business since 1965. In 1998 brothers, Brad and Brian bought the business from their father. The Lokensgards’ father, Orion, founded the business in 1965 as an implement dealership located along State Highway 7 East. He moved the business to its current location and refocused on smaller lawn and garden equipment. Today they sell John Deer, Simplicity, Ferris, Husqvarna, Echo and Aluma. L & P Supply also carries a full line of oils, lubricants, chains, filters and other parts for many lawn and garden equipment brands.

For years, Brian and Brad Lokensgard had been taking in free fill from construction around Hutchinson. They finally put the expanded plateau west of their lawn and garden equipment dealership to good use by building a 4,320-square-foot addition. L & P Supply has long been known for carrying a large selection of reconditioned, used equipment, and for servicing what it sells. The Lokensgards said the construction of a new showroom allowed their busy repair shop to expand into the former showroom area.

Did you know?

They sell Automowers? Yes, really they do!
