Something from Mary

As we continue to watch the political mass struggle with the DOL Overtime Ruling, I’m reminded of TWO key sets of advice from several leaders who have spoken to our Leadership Institute Class each year.

“Build your network of people BEFORE you might need them.” The other option is to introduce yourself and then spurt out your problem and ask for help.

AND,

“Your voice matters. Reach out to legislators.”

Democracy is the only system capable of reflecting the humanist premise of equilibrium or balance. The key to its secret is the involvement of the citizen.      -John Ralston Saul

The Department of Labor may have overreached on this new ruling, but our legislators have the ability to rescind the ruling, or slow down the ruling so it would ramp up over a number of years.

Knowing local, state and federal representatives can make the task much easier. If they know you, they are less likely to brush you, and your issue, aside.

More importantly right now, is to let your federal leaders know how this affects your business, whether you are a for profit or not-for-profit business.

They need to hear from us.
They need to hear from you.
YOU are the key to making this or anything else happen.

Please take 10 minutes to type out some information and email it to our legislators.

We hope you will join us for the 42nd Annual Arts & Crafts Festival and Taste of Hutchinson. The Festival dates are Friday, September 16 from 10-6 and Saturday, September 17 from 9-4. This Festival is full of handmade items and crafts from our vendors. Please invite your family and friends to attend this community favorite event! Arts & Crafts Festival Volunteers NEEDED!!

We need HELP! That shouldn’t be a huge surprise to everyone. But to be more specific – we need help for our Arts & Crafts Festival!

For information on how to volunteer for the Arts & Crafts Festival, Please click here. Simply type your name in, provide your phone number and EMAIL. (There is no save button, it automatically saves what you type.)

If you have a friend who might like to volunteer, please provide the link to them as well. An event of this size needs volunteers to make it a great experience for everyone. 10,000-12,000 people come each year! This year the Luce Line Lace Up and the Stamp N Storage Warehouse Sale are also taking place.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us by phone 587-5252 or email Mary.
