It’s Really Not Goodbye…
When I was a husky little 8 year old, I wanted nothing more than to be a first basemen for the Minnesota Twins. I wanted to play baseball and win the world series, just like Kent Hrbek did. Thinking about it now, I wished for that career because it looked like a joy for those grown men to play a game that they loved and get paid for it. I mean, that’s everyone’s dream, right?
With the Chamber, I found a career that sparked my interest and drove me to understand what I wanted out of a career: to help people be the best they can be. This translated into the Chamber world by doing what I could to help our members and organization with anything I could. It meant helping move cabinets and furniture for a business relocating across town. It meant reaching out to offer congratulations and condolences for celebrations and sorrow. It meant getting up at 4am to make sure we were ready with coffee and donuts for the Arts & Crafts Festival… And all of it has meant the world to me. The people I got to work with every day, the businesses that I got to support and work for, and the organizations that I got to be a part of have truly shaped my life for the last 2 years and I am thankful that the Hutchinson Chamber took a chance on me.
I am also so excited for Mollie Terlinden! She has hit the ground running and I am overjoyed that the Chamber has found a person that will truly work hard for our members and organization. Do not hesitate contacting her to introduce yourself and make her feel welcome as you did with me. She is and will be a rock star here!
My new opportunity with Citizens Bank & Trust allows and encourages me to be involved in the community, so there is a good chance you will see me out and about with the Hutchinson Ambassadors, learning and socializing with Hutchinson Young Professionals and delivering farm fatigue buckets with the Ag Committee. I look forward to being involved when and where I can.
So as I leave the Membership Coordinator position here at the Chamber, it truly isn’t goodbye. You will still see and hear from me, and I will always be an advocate for Hutchinson, the Chamber and their mission. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for making this experience amazing and helping me find joy in my job.
Welcome Mollie!
As a Hutchinson native, I’ve always been intrigued by the “inner workings” of this city; the history, the planning that results in fantastic events we host, our constant growth, and the people that shout #lovewhereyoulive and are proud to call Hutchinson their home. I, indeed, moved away for a while, but I came back… During my time away, I learned that Hutchinson is a great place to raise children, to build a business, to explore the outdoors, and to get involved with your community. It’s quiet, but offers plenty of excitement, it’s big, but not too big, and it is a “feel good” community. Hence the shift from the metro back to Hutchinson so my husband, my daughter, and I can grow our roots here.
Throughout my career I’ve gained experience in leadership, communications, speaking, finance, and the importance of partnership and teamwork. I’m eager to utilize these skills in my new role here at the Chamber and enjoy a more hands on approach in making our community thrive.
While I know my learning about this new position will be ongoing, my most influential takeaways from week one are:
- The work that is done within these walls is done with intention, thought, and heart.
- The members of the chamber are not just members, they are a part of a family and a bigger vision for the Hutchinson Community.
- I am “replacing” Matt, who has done a fantastic job connecting, relating, learning, and getting to know what really drives the businesses in our town, and that’s you. He has set a high standard for what is expected of this position and I will do my best to continue that with as much love and ease as Matt did.
Over the next few weeks and months I hope meet as many of you as I can, understand a little bit more about you and your business, and connect! Email Mollie
2017 March Food Drive
It’s time to gear up for the 2017 Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, which benefits the McLeod County Food Shelf! The Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign is the largest collection of financial and food support for McLeod Emergency Food Shelf (MEFS) each year. EVERY dollar and EVERY pound raised is reported and then eligible for a match in relation to the total raised and the total number of people MEFS serves.

The Chamber has services much like a gym. Services that can benefit all business needs, ongoing maintenance, or just what you might specifically need. Click here to read Mary’s article:
