What’s Happening in November 2016?

Small Business Saturday

Do your holiday shopping on Small Business Saturday and support our community in a big way!  Small Business Saturday is one of our favorite community events.  The Chamber Board has once again decided to support local businesses with payments towards shopper’s purchases . The smiles we see from store owners, and the shoppers, are what make this day stand out for us.  It’s always great to see so many people out shopping with loved ones, while supporting our local businesses. We hope to see you shopping in Hutchinson on November 26!

Businesses, this is your day to shine!  We want to help you with that.  Once again our Bring It Home Committee has some fun planned.

Thank You! farm-fatigue-tractor-logo

Each fall the Hutchinson Agri-Business Committee, along with the Glencoe Agri-Business Committee, gather donations of food, wellness, and safety items from Chamber Members.  The donated  items are packed and hand delivered to the local farmers out in the field during harvest time.  These items are sincerely appreciated by the farmers. Thank you to all the businesses that donated items this year!

Cooperation. Collaboration. Partnership.

Progress happens because people and organizations work together!

Recently, the CTE Center equipment and machines in the new high school renovation project was funded by local businesses. Over $1.2 million was raised!! Hutchinson EDA and Miles Seppelt led the charge and reached $600,000 plus a $600,000 grant from 3M Gives. KUDOS and THANKS to 3-D CNC, AG Systems, Goebel Fixture Company, Hutchinson Iron & Metal, Hutchinson Manufacturing, Hutchinson Technology, Inc., Impressions, Inc., Innovative Foam, , MITGI, Pro Maintenance, Rath Racing, RD Machine, Mark & Wendy Schierman, Stamp-N-Storage, Stearnswood, SWIF, TOWMASTER, Warrior Manufacturing. Find links to our chamber members. Within this project, a group of enthusiastic, passionate people worked to write a grant to 3M Gives. Again, Partnership made this happen…. Hutchinson Public Schools, Ridgewater College, Hutchinson EDA, 3M, and the Chamber all worked TOGETHER to make this possible. Heck YES- We’re PROUD of this!

Last year, the Agri-Business Committee of the Chamber determined their work efforts could be combined with the Extension Services work with McLeod County Producers. Now, their volunteer work and sponsorships for the former Spring Ag Seminar enrich the Crop Management Input Seminar on December 1st. We’ll also honor the Ag Person of the Year at this event, among their peers. You’ll find an informational flyer for this event in this newsletter.

These are just two specific examples of progress just this year. But I know you can look around you to see more! If I tried to complete an exhaustive list I would probably forget something… and then someone would feel left out.  As our community grows, so too grows the need for you to be engaged in what will be the future of Hutchinson.

Just imagine what we might not have, had we not had such a collaborative city- our past is filled with projects, organizations, amenities which came from conversations, brainstorming, dreaming and ACTION.

Thank you for being part of the ACTION in Hutchinson!
